Pretty Thrifty: Missing Out

Hello Ladies,

Have you ever missed going someplace or doing something that you didn't want to miss? Do you remember how that felt? What did you do about it? Did you learn anything from it?

A few years ago I had to miss going to summer camp. I was really, really disappointed. I felt like I needed to go, that I needed to be rejuvenated. So I was pretty upset.

Well, God's got a good sense of humor, and He loves us far above what we can imagine ourselves. That week was the best week I had that summer. I was stirred up spiritually, calmed mentally, and joyful physically.

Sometimes God knows that we need to miss out on things in life because He has a far better plan for us. It can be simple things or it can be big things, but no matter the size it all comes down to this.

God loves each and every one of us so much that He wants to be involved in our everyday lives, guiding us step-by-step through every single moment of our day. So the next time you think you are missing out on something, look for what God might be doing for you or trying to teach you.

You are God's beloved child, and He wants what is best for you even if you don't particularly like how it's served up.

Keep your eyes on Him and nothing will be impossible to you.

Truly,
Teen for the Lord

Merry Christmas!

Last night my mom came into the room and said to me,
"It's time! You need to let your viewers know you are alive."

Well, obviously, I am alive. I started college in August, so of course I have been very busy writing papers and doing assignments. I was also working the first half of the semester, so that took up even more time.
Keeping a blog up takes a lot of time.
A deeper reason is Pretty Thrifty. I have put on quite a bit of weight over the last year, and it has been difficult to post pictures of myself that make me feel, well, beautiful.
I understand the need to love myself in the skin I'm in, but it's hard. I have been struggling with it a lot. Also I am having a hard time deciding what to do next with my life and feeling discouraged.

So overall, I have really been struggling with my self confidence, and my desire to get up and go has been kind of pathetic.
So I apologize.
I don't mean to be neglectful of the blog, but I have been.

And I didn't mean for this to be a sad post either.
What I have been learning through this time is that I have to be patient with God.—to just ask for the next step. If I knew the future, it would give me the opportunity to run from it.
And I don't want to run from it.
I want God to use everyday that I live to prepare me for the exciting future he has planned for me.

I also am learning to love myself for who I am. Not just my body, but my personality and how I interact with people.
I'm not like a lot of people. I am loud, dramatic, awkward, and a little ditsy.
I will probably never be a quiet, still person, as much as I would like to be sometimes, and I will probably never be uber sensitive or meek. I will probably never be a perfect follower or a perfect leader.
I will never be blonde, because I have eyebrows the color of charcoal And that's okay with me :).
I will be who I am, because God knit me together in my mother's womb, and I am beautifully and wonderfully made.

Merry Christmas to you all!
As this year ends, celebrate who God created you to be and remember how much he loves you for who you are.

Back from Camp

YES!
I am still alive! I have not fallen off the face of the earth, I am not sick or paralyzed. But I have been extremely busy and preoccupied this summer. If you have been following my blog for very long, you know that every year I attend a church camp at the end of July. Well, at the end of June, I left home for a month to intern at that church camp. It is nearly four hours away. I hardly ever had cell service, so it was a long time being away from home. Even longer for my mom. No matter; it was the best summer of my life.

There were eight interns, two staff members, and the directors and their family that ran the camp. The first week, all we did was clean the camp grounds, buildings, and bathrooms and get to know each other. I have to say I have never seen such big spiders! The first one we found, I think was a Missouri tarantula. Ugh!!

Anyway, the second week was kids' camp. They were all so adorable. We had a great team that came and did the program for the kids. Even the adults enjoyed it!

The next week was junior high camp. We had a great first couple of days and then on Wednesday, we had a huge storm that knocked down a few big trees, put the whole area out of power, and knocked out our water until the next morning. We had to send over two hundred kids home early. We were out of power for over three days, and I wondered if we were going to have to go home. But finally, on Saturday, night the power came on! We rushed to get the campground ready for the seniors that were coming on Monday. We got it all done in one day and went out to celebrate that night.

The next day we welcomed about two hundred more campers to the camp grounds, and we had a great week! On Saturday, everyone, including us interns, left and went home. It was the best experience I have ever had at camp. I am so glad I went. The opportunity to minister to so many kids simply by being there to lead games, greet them at the door at mealtime, talk to them during meals, just being Jesus with skin on... it was really wonderful. My biggest goal, to make the kids feel included and talk to as many as I could so they didn't feel ignored or left out, was rewarded when one of the girls came up to  me and said as much on the last day. It was amazing to me.

Anyway, that's where I have been. I start college on Monday, so it may be a while until I post again. Or not. We will see. But for now, God bless you all and be with you.

A New Look At This Beautiful Life

By now you have probably noticed the new look to my blog.
I have to say that I really like it.
My little sister, Amy, asked if she could redesign my blog.
So, while Mom and I went to figure what I have to finish up for high school (ahhhh!), she redesigned to her heart's content! Well done, Sissy!
While we were out, I told my mom that even though I only have about a month and a half left, graduation is not coming as a shocking change.
I like big dramatic events to be, well, big and dramatic... like me. :)
So when things simply dwindle off and eventually end, it's not as exciting. Not as significant.
Yet every change in our life is significant. How do we handle them without going crazy?
Simply go with it.
The truth is, you cannot control everything in your life now, and you never will. You will never get to the day that you have everything under control.
So just breath! Look around, and ask God to open your eyes to the beautiful life He has blessed you with.
And if you can't see the beauty of your life, believe in the beauty of Jesus' life, death, and resurrection. Ask Him into your heart, and He will show you the beauty of your life.
You are never forsaken or abandoned.
You are never forgotten.
You are forever treasured and loved for who you are.
No matter the ugly that you have seen or done, God still has a beautiful plan for you.
God bless and be with you!

Spring is Here! Pretty Thrifty

 Ahhh... spring.
Fresh flowers, gusty breezes, new life, and rainy days curled up with a book and hot tea...
~sigh~
Spring is a time for new starts and fresh beginnings and, sometimes, the closing of a season.
I'm a senior this year and I'm about to graduate.
A relief, yes, but also a challenge.

What is next?
What do I do with my life?
What does God have for me?
Are my dreams His will or mine alone?
What do I do?

If you've graduated, you have probably gone through this. But you may have asked yourself the same questions at various other parts of your life. I don't think any of them are totally answered. They can be answered, for a time, but they never really go away. They keep nagging at us, prodding us to ponder the future, distracting us from the present and the day God has given us.

What I'm learning, is that God loves us. He has good plans for us; and if we will acknowledge Him in all that we do, He will direct us. He will show us what's next, what to do, where to go, what to say. And with our good Father leading us down the road that He knows so well, we don't need to worry about the next step. We can enjoy the moment we are in with our Father, our family, our lives, without the distraction of worry on our minds.
He will supply all of our needs according to His riches and glory.
Even if that is simply direction or wisdom.
He gives liberally to all who seek wisdom.
He desires good things for us.
He alone is good and can lead us in the paths of righteousness

Gods at War

For the last couple of years, my pastor has begun the year with a church consecration. Basically, this means we each make a personal commitment to consecrate one part of our lives in January— a fast to work on our personal relationship with God. I joined in this year and I am really glad I did. Over the last month I have spent far more time in prayer than I normally do. And when I drew near to God, He drew near to me... just like He promised.

At the beginning of the year, my youth group started a book study on the book Gods at War. If you have not read it, I highly recommend looking into it. It will totally change your perspective of sin. When we think of gods today, we think Greek, Roman, Norse, Buddhist, Hindi, Islamic, ect. But the Church seldom looks at the gods in the USA. Gods of power, self, pride, lust, and many more. This book, by the author of Not a Fan, Kyle Idelman, addresses many of them and how to win the battle in our hearts. If you want to learn more, you can visit City on a Hill's bookstore here.

This book has been incredible. It makes you look at your struggles with sin much differently than we are taught to look at them. I think it makes us see how big an issue, how large of an obstacle some of these issues are, and how great a wall they build between us and God, our father.

CAUTION:
This is an adult/young adult book. It is not geared toward children. It deals with adult topics, if you know what I mean. Please use discretion. Thanks!

Gods at War Trailer from City on a Hill Productions on Vimeo.

God wants us free from all of the gods that are holding us back from Him. He does not want us giving ourselves over to them. We are His treasure. We are His bride. When we worship our idols, whether we know they are idols or not, we give Satan God's treasure and bride. We are cheating on God with Satan.

But there is freedom in Christ! But you have to sacrifice your gods on the altar of your heart each and every day so that you can be free from this slavery. God is patiently waiting for you, child, to realize your mistake and take the first step toward Him. He will help you get past and through this!
Have faith! Expect His goodness in your life.

"In all of your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your path."

   May God be with you!

Which Wolf Will You Feed?

  Hi Everyone!

If you've been following my blog, you can see that I changed it up just a little. I have lables at the top for categorized posts and have updated my profile. All things for the better. And that's how life is. I'm about to start a new season of life, and so are a lot of my friends. All things for the better. That's life. You are in one season for a time, but rarely forever. In every season of your life, there will be some good. Find the good and enhance it.

There is an old Cherokee legend that says this:
There is a great battle going on inside each of us between two wolves. One wolf is Evil. He is anger, jealousy, hate, sorrow, self-pity, arrogance, lies, superiority, etc. The second is Good. He is joy, peace, light, goodness, hope, love, grace, mercy, etc.
Which one will win?
The one you feed.

Think about it. You will be either taken by Evil, or by Good. Choose today. It can't wait.
God Bless!

Thrift Store Faith

 Hi everyone!
A few weeks ago I heard a sermon about Thrift Store Faith. What is that?
A lot of people have purchased second hand faith from their parents. They just call themselves  Christians, going to church just because that's what they have always done. There is no personal commitment.
So how do we avoid it?
 1# Discover it.
You have to want it. To seek it out. And ask yourself if you really are a Christian or are you just going off what people have told you in the past. Is it real? Once you have decided this you're ready for the next step.
  2# Own it.
When you buy something second hand, you don't take care of it half as well as if they had bought it second hand or borrowed. They don't clean it or take special care of it. Many people have done that with God, going to church and calling themselves because their parents were Christians and they haven't done anything that terrible. That's a good way to get God to say, "I never knew you." That's the point. To know Him. You have to have your own relationship with God. And you have to own that relationship. Take care of it. Scrub and scrub at the dirty spots and polish it until it reflects His light.
  3# Live it.
Now you have live it out. Listen to His words in your Bible and your spirit. Do things just to make Him smile. Obey Him when He gives you a mission, no matter how minuscule or magnificent. He will only give you what you can handle, so don't stress it. If you're going through a really rough spot, guess what? Your almighty Father is recognizing your strength. Count it all joy when you have trials. The testing of your faith produces patience. Let patience have it's perfect work so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. (Paraphrased from James 1:2-4. One of my favorite versus!) This rough spot is to strengthen you in your faith and bring you into Shalom. Nothing lacking, nothing missing, nothing broken.
So do you have a real personal relationship with God?
Or do you have Thrift store faith?
  Or no faith?
If you already truly love our Father, I'm truly am glad. If you don't, I am smiling as I type just thinking about this opportunity for you to meet Him. Can I help you, please? If you'll allow me to introduce you, I am sure your life will change dramatically. And it will be a beautiful thing to behold! Are you ready? Say this out loud to your Father who loves you more than life itself. That's why He died for you. Love.

  God,
I know that I have hurt you in the past when I sinned against you. I want to have a sincere relationship with You from now on. I want to love You and to feel Your incredible love for me.
I believe your Son died on the cross to pay for my sins. I believe He rose again to defeat Death.
I repent of my sins against You. Please forgive me. Change my heart and let me see things through Your eyes.
  Thank You!
  Amen

If you just said that sincerely to our Father, then welcome to the family!
Here's the next steps: If you don't have a Bible, get one. If you don't have a home church find one.
If you left church because you were hurt of offended remember, people hurt you because of their own brokenness. Just because one church hurt you, it does not mean you will only get hurt at the next one.
God bless you and guide you!
 Happy Easter everyone!

Stepping Forward

Saturday is my 18th birthday. I am in my senior year of high school, and I don't know for sure what I want to do! I have lots of interests but I haven't had any "ah-ha" moments about my divine calling in life.
Guess what!
  I'm not worried!
I'm not freaking out about what I'm going to do next. But I was last semester. So what happened?
 I took a step forward.
When you are stuck in a rut, you have to take a step forward.
For me, it was as simple as signing up for dual enrollment classes with our community college. It wasn't a huge step, but I finally felt like I was getting somewhere. I was making progress in a tangible way.
That's what God taught me over the summer.
Take the next step.
Don't spend your time worrying about the far, distant future. Tomorrow will worry about itself. Worrying about it will only get you stuck deeper in your rut.
Take the next step, what ever that may be.
It may be cooking dinner. Changing a diaper. Potty training. High school. College.
WHATEVER IT IS!
All you are asked to do is take a step every day and depend on God to keep you in the right path.
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE STUCK IN YOUR RUT ANYMORE!
     If you feel stuck...
Take a running step forward!
God Bless!

Love Suffers for a Long Time....

1 Corinthians 13:4 says,
"Love suffers long and is kind."

I don't think that those two aspects of love were written together by chance. Love, true love, will endure rejection, hate, deceit, and injustice for a long time. But I don't think that means it takes it lying down. No, to suffer long, you have to fight to stay alive. How does love fight? "It is kind." You know the phrase, "We'll kill them with kindness"? As Christians, we are called to Guerrilla Love Fair. Okay, now some of you are looking at the screen with a puzzled look on your face. Let me explain.
I have been listening to an audio recording of the book Guerrilla Lovers. I won't go into any depth, but if you would like to read it, click on the title to learn more. The basis of the book focuses not on condemning people for their faults but loving them despite their faults... just like Jesus. They call it "Guerrilla Love Fair". By secretly ambushing them with random acts of kindness, you batter them not with condemning words, but with God's love. Get the picture?
You see, the people who make us suffer the most are the ones who need God's kindness the most, but not just people you know. There are millions of people who are in need of God's love. Whether they know it or not, His love is still suffering for them, and you may be just the person to tell them. We may not know what people are going through, but they still need to know that God's love is suffering long for them and with them.
Now, you probably have thought of a couple of people who need to be killed with kindness as you have been reading this. Your mission? Ask your Commanding Officer. He knows exactly how this covert operation is supposed to go down. So get your walkie-talkie and tune it into to 777 Heaven and listen carefully. He's always eager to engage in Guerrilla Love Fair. Trust me, I'm preaching to the choir.
  God bless y'all!

It's a Wonderful Life

     Happy New Year everyone!
Sunday evening we rented Maleficent. It was really good! The movie tells the story of Maleficent and is an epic story of of forgiveness and redemption. It was quite remarkable how it portrayed actual hatred, hurt, and forgiveness in life. It was really enjoyable and I liked it better than the original Disney that I remember. Mind you I haven't seen it in years!
After that, we watched It's a Wonderful Life. Being older than when I saw it last, I watched it with new eyes. It's a deep movie. It really makes you think about what you've done or want to do with your life. It makes you wonder if you are making a difference.
At the very end of the movie, George receives a book from Clarence, his guardian angel. In the front it says this, "No man is a failure who has friends." If there is anyone in this world that you call a friend or calls you a friend, then you are making a difference. You are changing their lives. You have worth and value. Don't waste it. Go and love people. That is your mission. Don't get preachy to people. Love them into the kingdom.

  P.S.
I wrote this a couple of weeks ago. It was supposed to get posted, but it didn't. I just didn't want to go back and figure all the particulars out. ~~guilty grin~~
  Enjoy anyway!
About a little over a week ago a lady in our church died. She was a beautiful, loving kind and caring woman of God. My dad worked with her and my mom was rather close to her. We went to her memorial on Saturday. Despite the fact it was a sad reason to get together, it was a good time. We had worship and we ( the church body ) came together and supported each other, helping with food, clean up, and loving one another. God has promised us in His word He will turn things out for our good. Charity's passing has awakened some of us to the fact that we are a family, and we need to act and love like it. We are a family because we have to support each other. After all, WWJD? ~~smile~~

For me, it has made me wonder what people would say about me if I were to die or suddenly leave. Would they say I was a servant, loved  God and people? Or would they be glad that I was gone? So I guess it has made me want to love completely, without expecting anything from others.

It's good. God is working on me, and honestly, I'm glad. Sometimes it's hard for me to continue to fight and conquer. Unfortunately, He usually has to give me orders for me to do things. I do a lot on my own.

But, there is grace in abundance. I was reminded of that this weekend. In the sermon Sunday, my Pastor talked about the verse that says "a righteous man may fall seven times but he will get up again."
(Proverbs 24:16) I needed that. A righteous man fights. He doesn't give up when he falls. He grabs the Commander's hand that is stretched out to pick him up and KEEPS ON FIGHTING!

Also we are fighting from victory. Christ has conquered everything. Period. So if you are with Him you already have the victory and you just have to defend it. It's like defending a position in a battle. You have the victory, but every once in a while the enemy thinks, " I want that position ", and you'll have to fight him off. Eventually he'll get tired of being beaten and leave you alone. Get the picture?

In Christ you have the victory! So fight like it! Don't give up! You are a conqueror and coheir with Christ! Live like it!

God bless you my brother's and sister's.
"May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all." (2 Corinthians 13:14) Amen!

This of course quickly took a turn for the worst.
And (of course) Michael won!

An odd time, but God's time.

Good morning, everyone! This is going to be a good week. I am going to believe the report of the Lord. He is good. He is just. He is a strong foundation. A rock when I need Him most and least. He is, He was, and always will be. He is the Great I am.

My Grandma passed away Thursday. It was a surprise. She went into Code Blue (was unresponsive). We prayed for God to bring her back or heal her, but it was her time to go. It hurts. It will hurt. But it will heal. Death is not "the end, but the beginning of life" for believers. So I'm not sad for her. She is so joyful and happy. And she'll be there waiting to hug me when I get to Heaven. God is good.

Grief is funny. This is the first time that I have lost someone close to me. So I'm learning to grieve, and I'm discovering something; grief doesn't work the same for anyone. We all handle it differently. But it's not fun to learn how to grieve. Really, I don't even like the word. But I guess we all have to go through it at one time or another.

Some people cry through it all, some get angry and try to stuff it, others don't know how to grieve. But they still do. Some struggle to believe it's reality. They keep pressing through without changing things. They try to laugh through it, remembering the good memories. This is me.

But through it all, God is working things out in me. It's good; but weird. An odd time, but God's time.

Your prayers are welcome. Pray that God will bring this all about to glorify Him and that His love and comfort will surround me and my family.
   God Bless ya'll!
You are precious in the eyes of God!
Now go and have a blessed, wonderful week!

A Lesson from Gideon

Judges 6 is my current favorite chapter in the Bible. Mainly because God has been giving me revelation about it, which is how He usually talks to me. It's an interesting chapter. It starts out talking about how the Israelites are in bondage to the Midianites because they did evil in the sight of the Lord. Let me just say that James says to humble yourself in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up. (James 4:10) I don't want to know what happens when you exalt yourself in the sight of the Lord! So they were hiding "in the dens, the caves, and the strongholds which are in the mountains". Now the Midainites would come every year, encamp against them, and destroy their crops. Also the Amalekites and some people, who are not named, from the East. They were very poor at this point.

But in the middle of all this, a guy named Gideon gathers his wheat together and startes to thresh it in his father's wine press so that he can hide it from the Midianites. All of the sudden the Angel of the Lord appears to him and says, "The Lord is with you, you mighty man of valor." The irony of calling a guy who's hiding a mighty man of valor must have struck him pretty hard, because basically  what he said was, "Whatever! Don't you see what's going on here? God has forsaken us."

Now, if I was God I would have gotten mad at him for talking to me like that. That's why He's God, and I'm not. Inspite of what Gideon said, God knew his heart and said, "Go in this might of yours, and you shall save Israel from the hand of the Midianites. Have I not sent you?"

Gideon then wants a sign to make sure this is God speaking to him and not just some mirage brought on by heat stroke, so he asks Him to wait while he prepares a sacrifice. After he prepares it, he sets it on a rock and God makes fire come out of the rock and the fire consumes it. Gideon understands and believes it truly is the Angel of God. The Angel leaves and Gideon builds an altar and calls it "The-Lord-is-Peace".

Question: Now what was the point of me telling that whole story?
Answer: I want to share some of what God has put on my heart as of late.

First of all, God brought Gideon out of a place of hiding and weakness. (Judges 6:11-12)
Second, God looks beyond our present problems, and into our future potential. (Judges 6:11- 16)
Third, the only limitation on God is us. But if you give God all that you have, He will make it into something that you could not have even imagined. He only needs your willingness; but if you're not willing, He will find someone who is.
Fourth, God told Gideon to go in his might and he would save Israel. "Have I not sent you?" God has called us to battle, but we can't go to battle and just hide behind Him like a little kid. We are soldiers and we have to follow our general (God) to the very end. We have to exert just as much willingness to fight for our lives as He does. Because if you think about it, you're in a fight for our lives, and God can only protect us so much. If we lie on the ground and accept defeat, we will be defeated. But if we stand and fight, and follow God's orders, we will win the victory!
Which brings me to the fact that GOD IS ALWAYS FAITHFUL! He loves you exponentially. He is fighting for your life. So the question becomes:

   Are you?

I Broke a Mirror!

I was in my room yesterday, I accidentally knocked over my full length mirror and broke it. I took it out to a trash can outside. But as I went, I was thinking, "I broke a mirror... that means seven years of bad luck... WAIT! HOLD ON!"
Now I started talking to myself.
"Why should I settle for seven years of bad luck when I can have seven years of the favor of the Lord?"
Today is Friday the 13th. But it's not a bad day.
Superstition is just that; "a belief or notion, not based on reason or knowledge, in or of the ominous significance of a particular thing, circumstance, occurrence, proceeding, or the like." (Dictionary.com)
What the dictionary doesn't tell you is that the only reason you are going to be affected by superstition is if you believe in it. If you believe it, you are not believing in God's word which says He has plans to prosper you, and not to harm you. Superstition is inspired by the devil; so if you believe in it, you are believing Satan over God.

God is Faithful

Good morning, everyone.  It's a beautiful rainy morning.  It's funny, our pastors wife was praying for Spring time weather in Summer.  Thank you God for being faithful to answer our prayers!

Anyway, last week I went to Youth Camp. First off, I had a lot of fun and made some new friends. But best of all, God showed up.

I wasn't very excited about going to camp this year. I didn't have any specific expectations. I just wanted revelation, which He gave me.
He showed up the first night and didn't cease fire until I left Saturday.
He worked on so much. Some of the things are too personal to share on-line, but He worked on loneliness, humility, purity, and love.

I think it was Wednesday night. I just stood there and worshipped, enjoying His glory. I want to thank Him for that.  A couple of the nights, I was overcome by my love for Him.  I kept saying, " I love my Jesus." I guess you could say I fell more in love this week.

I do want to share something that happened Thursday night.  The speaker was Randy Lawrence.  If you have never gotten to hear him, he is an excellent speaker. Thursday night he spoke on purity. Afterward, he asked for anyone who needed restoration of purity to come up. I went up and gave God all that was on my heart. I didn't feel anything, but I had to trust that he had restored me.

That's something that I love about God. He is faithful. If you call on His name, He will answer. You may not hear Him, or feel Him, but He is working. And He who started a good work in you is faithful to complete it.

In the last couple of years, God has made it a point to impress upon me that He is faithful. He loves me so much, and as my father, He wants to take care of me and bless me. He is, was, and always will be faithful to me. Even to the end.

Waging War

As some of you might have gathered, I have a passion for drama, writing, and dance.  I love drama because, well, that's who I am.  I love writing, because I can impact people and write the kind of stories I want to read.  I love dance, because I get to worship God and honor Him in my own, passionate and personal way.  Plus, it's just awesome! ~grin~
So this year, for the 4th of July, we are doing a dance to the song Waging War, by CeCe Winans.  It's gonna be pretty neat!  I found a dance for the same song that another church performed. It's awesome.  I really liked it!

Okay, I have to admit I liked the Hip Hop better than the signing.  If you didn't watch the video, do it!  I wish I could move like that.  Hip hop is really cool!  Yeah, I know, get back to writing this post.
Okay.

The problem with Christians today is that we are not aware of the battles going on around us. Some of us don't even know that there is a war; and if we do, we don't know how to fight, and don't know what to fight with or how to defend ourselves.  It's sad, really,  especially since it is so easy for us to learn about the fight,  about our weapons, and about how to fight.
So, here's a rundown on our mission.

   Who's our enemy?

"Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour."
   1Peter 5:8
"For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms."
   Ephesians 6:12 NIV

  What are our weapons?

"For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart."
    Hebrews 4:12 NIV

  What is our defense?

" Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.  Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.  In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people."
  Ephesians 6:10-18

   Finally ,what is our mission?

"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Matthew 28:19-20

It's not rocket science, to borrow the colloquialism.( Yes. Eugene.)

But why don't Christians step out and fight? I think, honestly, that that is a question each one of us needs to answer for ourselves. I think it's probably been generalized enough.  It's time for us to search our own hearts and see what is preventing us individually. So get quiet, go in your room, close the door, turn on some worship music, and pray.

  He'll talk back.

Victory!!!

Ok, I titled this post Victory because, for quite some time, I have been living on the fence in between victory and defeat. It's not fun and I don't recommend it!

Yesterday a bunch of the girls from my church went to a women's confrence called Supernova. It was a blast (pardon the pun!)! There were dances, worship, and several speakers. Now I don't know where you come from or where your walk with the Lord is, but you are never without flaws. We're human, and we'll never be perfect. Man, do I know it!

Like I said, I'd been living on the fence without much passion for living in either territory. I had been discouraged for a long time; I'd seen God working and showing up in other peoples lives, but not in mine. It was like I had a wall built up, and I wasn't allowing God in. I felt like I was in the way, that I was the reason He wasn't showing up. I was doubting His reality in MY life. So, as you would guess, I wasn't expecting it when He showed up.

There was a lady at the conference named Maureena Smith. She was incredible! After just listening to her, I loved her. Awesome woman of God! I really hope I get the honor to see her again, and it's gonna be fun with her as my neighbor in Heaven. Anyway, she shared her testimony, and then asked for anyone dealing with depression to come forward. I had the classic battle: should I go up? I'm not really dealing with depression. This isn't for me. But I do need help. Epic, huh?

God sits in the heavens and laughs. Don't tell me He dosen't have a sense of humor! God knew.

Suddenly, she came down the aisle (I was only on the second row) praying for each of us girls. She got to me and stopped. She touched my head and prayed for me. I sat down. She prophesied over me. I wepted. And God broke that wall down. AND I CHOSE VICTORY!!! I was so joyful! I just thanked Him over and over! What else could I do? I knew right then and there that my God was REAL!! That His son was real!! I needed that reassurance.

So really this post is a praise report. But it also is for those who have been following the Lord and feel like He's far away. That He's not paying attention, because He is. He just has His own time schedule, that's all. HE HAS NOT FORGOTTEN YOU! AND YOU ARE NOT HOPELESS!! Keep pressing into His presence. Talk to Him and listen to Him. He wants to have a relationship with you.

Last but not least, LIVE IN VICTORY!! When in defeat, you are an open target for the enemy. It's a lifestyle, it's a choice. You have to choose to believe. You have to choose to live in victory. You have to choose to live not according to your feelings, but according to the Word of God. It's not easy, but it's worth it. May God Bless You All Abundantly!!

Woman: The Mighty Warrior

Have you ever wanted to know what God thinks of women?
You probably have.
But, before I tell you what He thinks of women, let me tell you what He doesn't think of us.
He doesn't see us as weak and inadequate.
When He created us to be a help meet, He created us to be a partner in a union of marriage.
He doesn't want us to be slaves to men.
But, He does want us to respect them and have a servant's heart.
He doesn't want us to be permanently glued to the front of the kitchen sink doing dishes for the rest of our lives.
He wants us to be wives and mothers, but He also wants us to be able to live up to our full potential.
Now, this is what He does think about women.

This is a picture of the word woman in ancient Hebrew. It means mighty warrior.
In a rough translation it says this:
A strong defender leading.
A mighty warrior.
That's what God thinks!
He sees us as mighty warriors.
He loves us and knows our strengths and our weaknesses.
He created us to fulfill a role.
-------------------------------------------------------
Proverbs 31
(exerpts)
-------------------------------------------------------
"Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies.
The heart of her husband safely trusts her;
So he will have no lack of gain.
A Virtous Woman is Honest.
She does him good and not evil.
All the days of her life.
A Virtous Woman is Honorable.
She seeks wool and flax, and willingly works with her hands...
       ...She considers a field and buys it;
From her profits she plants a vineyard.
A Virtous Woman is Industrious.
She girds herself with strength,
And strengthens her arms...
A Virtous Woman is Strong.
... She extends her hand to the poor,
Yes, she reaches out her hands to the needy.
A Virtous Woman is Generous.
She is not afraid of snow for her household,
For all her household is clothed with scarlet...
...Her clothing is fine linen and purple...
...She makes linen garments and sells them...
 A Virtous Woman is Prudent.
...Strength and honor are her clothing;
She shall rejoice in time to come.
She opens her mouth with wisdom,
And on her tongue is the law of kindness.
She watches over the ways of her household,
And does not eat the bread of idleness.
Her children rise up and call her blessed;
Her husband also, and he praises her:
'Many daughters have done well, but you excel them all.'
Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing,
But a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.
Give her of the fruit of her hands,
And let her own works praise her in the gates."
A Virtous Woman is Humble.
----------------------------------------------

This our goal...
  To be virtuous.
To be kind, but firm. To be meek, yet strong. To follow, and to lead.
To take pride in motherhood, and to excel in our careers.
To be faithful and pure.
To set the standard for women and girls alike.
The battle lines have been drawn.
The stakes are high.
Will we hold to the plans God has for us?
Or will we be swayed by the Father of Lies and accept the pitiful image the past generations have concocted...
 and call it womanhood?
This is the call to arms....
Will you live in the plans and purpose God has for you? Will you be a woman of God?
Will you answer?
