Pretty Thrifty: Loving Him Even Before You Meet!

Skirt: $4.00
Shoes:$4.00
Jewelry (given to me)

Have you or did you think a lot about yourr future husband when you were a young? I know I do. I dream of what I want. I try really hard not to say,"He has to be so tall, this ethnicity, his hair has to be this color, etc..." .
Think about that...
Isn't that a way of putting God in a box? What if  he doesn't look anything like what you think you want?
I'm not saying that if you really like a eye color, hair color or a certain weight that it's wrong. I first made  a list of what I wanted about three and a half years ago. I've made four or five, I think, and they have had some of the same things, but some things, especially what I want him to look like, have changed a lot.
I think one of the best ways I've heard it explained was by my former youth leader, Karissa. She used to say that, basically, you can make a list, but God will change your heart to love the man that He has for you.
For example, she would never have thought she would marry a man with a goatee, mohawk, and tattoo. But he was the man God had for her, and she loves him totally.
You simply have to let your list be flexible to God's plans.
Sounds like our entire journey with Him, right?  ~Ha, Ha~
So, go ahead, make a list! List what you think you want. List his characteristics, too. (That's what I've found to be the most consistent in my lists.)
Pray for him. Make a little journal writing prayers or letters to him.
It may seem silly, but if you are nurturing that love for your husband even before you meet and marry him, I believe that love will be all the stronger.
May God work in each and every one of your lives to bring you the right man or nurture the love that He has already brought you.
God Bless,
Emily

I am that I am

Who is moving on the waters?
Who is holding up the moon?
Who is peeling back the darkness?
With the burning light of noon?
Who is standing on the mountains?
Who is on the earth below?
Who is bigger than the heavens and the lover of my soul?

Creator God, He is Yahweh
The Great I am, He is Yahweh
The Lord of All, He is Yahweh
Rose of Sharon, He is Yahweh
The Righteous Son, He is Yahweh
The Three-in-one, He is Yahweh

Who is He that makes me happy?
Who is He that gives me peace?
Who is He that brings me comfort?
And turns the bitter into sweet?
Who is stirring up my passion?
Who is rising up in me?
Who is filling up my hunger, with everything I need?

Creator God, He is Yahweh
The Great I am, He is Yahweh
The Lord of All, He is Yahweh
Rose of Sharon, He is Yahweh
The Righteous Son, He is Yahweh
The Three-in-one, He is Yahweh

Even when we are ready to quit... His word still says "I am, that I am".
Just a reminder.

How to Cry like an Actress

Have you ever wondered how actresses and actors make themselves cry for that specific camera shot that is supposed to be so totally serious, but if you were acting it out in front a camera it would make you crack up?

I found the key. Get really upset, and watch Beth die in Little Women (1994 version).
  I BALLED!

Love Letter from God: Part 1

"You are My rose," He said.
The girl looked up from her reading. She knew her Lord's voice. He was speaking to her. She quietly closed her Bible and opened her journal. "I'm ready, Father."

The King smiled down on His beautiful creation and spoke. "You are a rose, not spotted or blemished. You stay in My garden growing, learning, and  maturing.very day I come to water you. Some days I carefully prune you.  As I do, you complain and cry."

She grimaced, but kept writing.

"But I, being The Gardener, know it is for the best, and the next day you thank me," He smiled at this familiar act of His creations.

"Child, your beauty is without compare, your petals keep you safe from prying eyes, and your thorns ward off any unwanted passers by from breaking your stem of purity."

She smiled at the truth in His words.

"Some days, you prick even Me. But I let you. NO price is to high for me to pay to be with you.  I never prune what will not be pruned. I will whisper in your ear, and speak gently to you, reproving and nurturing you. I will never give up on you even when you reject Me. When you have shriveled up and died, as My heart shatters, I will throw you to the refuse heap and there you will go back to the dust you came from."

" You are my portion. My love. I long to be pursued by you. To talk with you. I long to show you the World. To walk you through the dark places and bring you out of them with you leaning on My arm. I love you.
                                                             YOU ARE MINE!"

God's Love letter: Part 2

I wasn't sure whether or not to keep this and the previous post together. They are related but I decided to separate them. So you might want to read my previous post before you read this.

God has a heart of Romance. He longs to be pursued. He makes Himself vulnerable to us just for the privilege to talk to us, which isn't even a privilege. He is creator, and we should have to come at His every beckoned call. But, no; He gave us a choice. In everything. He has pretty much put Himself at a disadvantage to reach us. He longs for us!
I wish I could express this to each and everyone of you in person. Too bad there aren't double italics for me to use. ~smile~
He longs to be in our every thought. To be the only thing we think of! He longs to be desired. He wants to be loved. He longs for us to have a relationship with Him!
And He is a sucker for True Beauty. Just as we long to find our Beauty, He longs to show it to us. He longs to comfort us when we can't see it.

Our God is a passionate, personal, romantic, tender, nurturing, sensitive ( His feelings get hurt; He cries when we hurt Him), relational, and loving God. If this is starting to make Him sound feminine, there is a reason. See, Adam was one part of God's image. Eve another. All of our traits as men and women are found in God.* So if you think no one understands you, just try talking to God. He's got you covered. Always!!

You are His treasure. His portion. His inheritance. You are precious! You are a diamond. Remember, even diamonds get dirty. ~smile~  He wants to gather you to Himself and wash you, and polish you until you glisten and gleam. YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL!! YOU ARE WORTHY!! YOUR LIFE IS WORTH SAVING AND LIVING!  YOU HAVE A PURPOSE AND ARE NOT WORTHLESS!!  AGAIN, YOU ARE WORTHY! YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL! YOU ARE PERFECT! GOD DID NOT MAKE A MISTAKE WHEN HE CREATED YOU! YOU HAVE A PURPOSE! A REASON TO LIVE!
GOD WANTS YOU TO LOVE HIM AND SERVE HIM ABOVE ALL ELSE. HE IS WILLING TO GIVE UP HIS RICHES AND GLORY JUST TO SAVE YOU, EVEN YOU, JUST YOU, FROM THE TORTURE OF HELL!

 YOU ARE LOVED.

God sent His son to die for you. His son! THAT is how much you are loved.
You are loved!

He loves you. Love Him back.

Modesty: More than a fashion statement

So often in our society modesty is made something that our parents force on us (and they do it just to irritate us. They don't really care, and besides, what do they know about fashion, etc. Can you relate?)  The truth is they want to protect us and sometimes they don't want their little girl to grow up. To get that first pair of heels, put on makeup for the first time, to have that first date, to go off and have their happily ever after. It is because of LOVE that they want us to be modest. It is because of LOVE that they shield us from "fitting in", and if you think about it, fitting in doesn't always mean looking pretty in the first place.

The world has a twisted view of beauty. It's our job to untwist it. It's our job to show the world that beauty does not need to be flaunted or paraded like a toy. It should be cherished and nurtured. Does that mean that you have to join a convent and never go outside again? No. God tells us to be a light to the world. We are to be in the world but not of the world.
YOU CAN DRESS MODESTLY AND FASHIONABLY AT THE SAME TIME.
Talk to your girl friends, do some research. As a famous someone from some movie once said, "It's easy; just hard."
Don't be discouraged. Do it for the guys around you. You will be rewarded.

    God Bless, and Good luck!

This One's for the Girls

 Hello sisters!

I just got done with having a study about virtue with my mom. And you know how I said I would have a something to challenge you every week? Well here it comes!

What do you think when you see a girl walking down the street with her belly hanging out and her chest showing? Not anything real good, huh? Well, while you're thinking about that, what are people thinking of your own attire? Is it good, or bad? Are you turning heads because you are dressed modestly, or immodestly? I hope modestly.

As daughters of Christ, we have the responsibility to present ourselves in a manner pleasing to God. And that does not mean skin tight jeans, sheer, or tight tops, or tops that show cleavage. I know that this is not a topic that most girls like to talk about.  Because of that, it is being put on the shelf; and, the topic is not getting addressed too often.  So, even though it's not my favorite topic, I'm willing to talk about it for the good of us girls.

We have a thing called allure, our appearance; and, it is a powerful thing. If we do not protect our bodies by covering ourselves, we are not only sinning against God, but against ourselves, against our brothers in Christ, and against our family. Think about that for a second. You could be sinning against lots of people because you wore that mini skirt. Or those pants, that you can hardly breath in. Or what about that top that shows half your stomach, so you wear a jacket over it? And then when you spread your arms, that jacket pops open and your stomach is the featured view. What if your mom saw that? How would you feel? What if your God saw that? How would you feel? And what if, what if, your future husband saw that, and that left a bad impression on him? You could cause your future husband to stumble as well as other future husbands.  You see, we women are terribly mislead by today's fashion. The question is if we are willing to go along with all this. Are we going to go along with all the piercings, tattoos, and tight clothes?

We are supposed to save our bodies, our kisses, our hugs, and love, all for one man. And the plan is that we wait for that pleasure until after our marriage.  We have to keep our minds pure, too.

If you are immodest sometimes, even if you are a Christian, you're not alone! I even dress immodestly sometimes. But, because I have had high standards set for me by my parents, it's really infrequent.
But even though I don't want to dress immodestly, I like to be noticed. Who doesn't?  But in liking to be noticed comes the danger of immodesty.

One definition of modesty is expressing yourself, but, with CAUTION! Doesn't that sound easier? It does to me! Because I don't like to go around in dresses all the time. So here are some tips to make your wardrobe more modest.

1. How do I know if my shirt is too tight?

If it is stretching across your chest, well, it's tooooo tight!

The solution? Mine is, first clench your hands and go inside your shirt and push it out. This usually helps a good deal. If it doesn't, then you need a bigger shirt!

2. Is my shirt too short?

Reach for the sky. If you see your stomach showing, even a little, then yes. But, there is a sulution. Go buy some tank tops. They will do wonders. Just tuck them into your pants. And layers are TOTALLY in!!

3. Are my pants too low?

If when you bend over,  your back shows, yes. This could be your pants or your shirt. Either way, all you need is a tank top to tuck into your pants!

4. Is my shirt too low?

Lean forward, and look at yourself in the mirror. If you see your chest, you need an undershirt. But congrats to those who don't!

5. How short is too short?

Well, sit in front of a mirror (If you don't have that, then your mom will do!) cross-legged and indian style. If you see your undies, then you just need to throw out that pair of shorts or skirt, or you can wear leggings. But I don't recommend them. If you are wearing something skin tight, you are basicly giving a view of your body. This includes skinny jeans. You're better off throwing them in the trash, or giveaway.

Well, I hope I have challenged you to look at your wardrobe a little more carefully. Remember, we are helping to shape the next generation of leaders and, more importantly, each other's husbands.

"I charge you, O daughters of Jerusalem,
By the gazelles or by the does of the field,
Do not stir up nor awaken love
      Until it pleases."

Song of Solomon 2:7 NKJV

To my friends, sisters, and readers, God give you guidance,
Emily
