Hey Everybody! Last week was Teen Talent. I had so much fun! It was nice to get away for a couple days and to spend time with my friends. All the work was sooo worth it!
We left on Friday, drove close to five hours, stopped briefly at our hotel, got some dinner and went to service....
I don't know what it is about those youth services, but the presence of God is so powerful. He got to me really quick. I'm sure it helped that I was dealing with some things already (pride, jealousy, and intercession for my family). But I ended up on my knees, shoutin' the devil down. Then Brandon Kelly, our District Youth Director for PCG, spoke about the theme word for Youth Camp this year.. FOUND! I'm already getting excited for camp, and its months away. But that's what the fire of God does to you. I'm excited just thinking about it!
But, on to competition!
We didn't go to bed until about 1:30 a.m. Not exactly prudent, but we did it anyway. ( It wasn't all fun and games. Four of our entries were supposed to lyrics for our songs we were singing. So after we went to Steak and Shake at about 11:00 o'clock ( Yummy!) we returned to the Hotel and practiced our vocal ensemble. After that we had to find a computer lab and a printer. I had to type out my lyrics since I wrote the song. But the lady at the counter didn't even make us pay for our papers. She was really sweet.)
So the next day was competition day. The Hotel we were at had said there would be provided breakfast, but NO. So one of our leaders went and got us doughnuts. Thanks, Sonya! It took us a while to get our bags out of the Hotel, but we did it and, breaking with JFWC tradition, got there with time to spare. (This was honestly due to the fact that two of our leaders were judging and had to go to a judges meeting before competition.)
The competition started with one of my friends siblings. Then one of the kids from of my youth group sang. I think he surprised all of us. He got second place! One of my friends had a solo singing "Mirror" by Barlowgirl and danced to "I am" by Finding Favor. She got First Place in interpretive. I sang my solo and performed my dance. "Sing me a love song" by Barlowgirl. We performed our Human Video, and got 1st place!!! Our vocal ensemble got 2nd!
It was exciting! I give God the glory for it. Honestly my favorite part was praying with my friends before each performance. Those were memories to treasure for a life time.
Emily
P.S.
I'm going to post the videos of our performances on YouTube. I'll post the links in my next post if you're interested. God Bless!
Happy Easter!

PEACE!
Hi, everybody! Yesterdays service at my church was really good! I was all stressed this past week . ( Read my last post to see why) I gave it all to God and I felt so much better afterwards. I wasn't worried and I wasn't anxious. He took it and gave me peace. I love it when He does things like that. Plus, I'm not going to do as much for Teen Talent which is really good. It was a good weekend.
But, wait! There's more! We have been praying for months for a van. The car we had is only a 5 seater and there are 6 of us. And it was tiny!!
Saturday morning I did a fundraiser for T.T.* with my youth group. It was about 16 degrees and 8:00 in the morning. Not too bad if you don't mind loosing your beauty sleep. Anyway, we were selling KrispyKreme doughnuts and traffic was slow. ( We eventually sold most of them. The people we got them from shorted us and gave us a bunch extra so we had some left over. And NO! I will not mail you any! So don't even bother sending your address!) About 11:00 a.m. my dad texted one of the youth leaders that he would be there to pick me up soon. He was about a half hour late, but when he drove up he was in a mini van. We had been looking at the same van last week. With a grin on my face, I said, " You bought it? "
He had! And it was debt free! He exchanged our car and payed the rest in cash!
How great is our God?!
When my little sister saw it she literally screamed with excitement! What a great gift!
Now think: what are you believing God for?
"Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, 21 to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen."

Teen Talent Time!
Hello everybody! Happy late Valentines Day! I hope you all had a wonderful day full of too much candy, cookies, and chocolate. I know I did! I don't know the last time I had that much sweet. Anyway, I've been meaning to write but things kept coming up or I didn't get around to it. ~Sigh~
Things have been kind of stressful around here. I'm getting ready for Teen Talent, doing a dance with my church dance team, and school, which has been difficult lately. Teen talent is a national talent show held by the Pentecostal Church of God.Youth in churches affiliated with the P.C.G. preform in districts, states and nationals. There are a bunch of categories with everything from Christian Rap to Photography to Christian Comedy. We come the evening before and attend a rally and then turn in our entries or what not for our particular category. The next day we preform and are judged., awards are given at the end of the day. Last year I and a couple other girls got second in theatrical and some of us got first for our human video.
This year I'm doing a vocal solo, vocal ensemble, dance solo, group dance, theatrical, human video, poetry, and possibly a short film. And I have less than a month to perfect it! See why I'm stressed? So please pray that I will do well and do my best. Ah! I didn't say win. The point of Teen Talent is not to show off. The point is to learn how to perfect and critique our skills that God has given us. The point is to glorify God with our actions. But, I don't mind winning either. ~smile~
Well, may God bless you and keep you!
